September 6, 2024 – Today marks a major milestone for breakout artist Sarah Kinsley as she released her highly anticipated album, Escaper, on Verve Forecast/Decca. The 12-track album, now available for streaming and purchase, includes standout single “Knights” and follows the artist’s recent string of successful releases. Fans and critics alike have praised Kinsley for her unique ability to blend introspective songwriting with a grand, symphonic approach to pop music.

“Escaper is a 40-minute epic of the journeys we take to find ourselves again,” Kinsley explains. “It’s about using alternate realms and faraway places to escape grief, but also returning to reality, flaws and all, as a way to move forward. The album is my attempt to make sense of my life, both in its smallness and its entirety—through music.”
Ahead of the album’s release, Kinsley teased fans with singles like “Realms,” “Starling,” and “Last Time We Never Meet Again,” setting the stage for what would become one of 2024’s most anticipated debuts. Her latest track, “Knights,” delivers a powerful message, with Kinsley describing it as a “ballad that explodes with anger, force, and inexplicable emotion,” addressing the complexities of chivalry and the strength of the feminine spirit.
For Escaper, Kinsley collaborated with Grammy-winning producer John Congleton (Angel Olsen, St. Vincet, Sharon Van Etten), pushing her sonic boundaries. “I had made every single EP from scratch in the sweetness of my apartment. This record was meant to be grand and unstoppable,” Kinsley shares. With its sweeping arrangements, lush instrumentation, and intimate lyrics, the album reflects her classical training while embracing the grandiosity of pop music.
To support the release, Kinsley is gearing up for a global headline tour across North America, United Kingdom, and Europe. The tour begins on September 15 in Vancouver and includes performances at major venues like New York City’s Webster Hall and two sold-out nights at Los Angeles’ Troubadour. With several sold-out shows already, the excitement surrounding Kinsley’s live performances continue to grow.
In celebration of Escaper, Kinsley made an in-store appearance at Rough Trade Records in New York City on September 6 at 6 p.m. ET, where fans were able to meet her and get signed copies of the album.
Known for her fusion of classical music and alt-pop, Kinsley has earned widespread praise for her previous EPs, including The King (2021), Cypress (2022), and Ascension (2023). Her viral hit “The King” catapulted her to stardom, racking up over 121 million streams globally and earning comparisons to the likes of Maggie Rogers and Lorde. Kinsley has also shared the stage with some of indie pop’s biggest names, including Mitski, Sylvan Esso, Weyes Blood, and Gus Dapperton, and performed at festivals like Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits.
With Escaper, Sarah Kinsley solidifes herself as one of the most compelling new voices in pop music, seamlessly weaving together themes of escape, self-discovery, and human connection. Fans around the world are eagerly awaiting her live performances, where she will bring the emotional depth and power of the album to the stage.
