The Metal Injection Festival: A two-day celebration of metal and rock in Brooklyn

The Metal Injection Festival is set to blast into Brooklyn, New York, this weekend, bringing an electrifying lineup of metal and rock acts to the iconic Meadows and Brooklyn Monarch venues on September 21-22, 2024. This year’s event is particularly special, marking the 20th anniversary of Metal Injection, the influential website and community for metal enthusiasts. With 31 bands across three stages, the festival promises an unforgettable experience for fans of all metal subgenres.

The festival boasts an impressive roster that spans across the metal spectrum, from death metal and djent to hardcore, doom, and industrial. The Saturday lineup includes powerhouse acts such as Jinjer, known for their genre-defying blend of metalcore and progressive elements, and God Forbid, who will be performing their seminal album Gone Forever in its entirety for the first time. Fans can also look forward to the East Coast reunion of 3 Inches of Blood, who haven’t graced the region with their presence in over a decade.

Other highlights for Saturday include the world debut of Pallid Veil, a supergroup featuring members of Gorguts, Revocation, The Dillinger Escape Plan, and Carbomb. In addition, Hanabie Revocation, Born of Osiris, and Gost will take the stage, ensuring a diverse mix of metal styles and high-octane performances.

Sunday’s lineup is equally stellar, featuring Converge, a cornerstone of the metalcore genre, and Cave In, who will offer a special acoustic set. Rivers of Nihil, Oceans of Slumber, and Goatwhore are also on the bill, along with a host of other prominent names like Body Box, The Phantom Eye, and Vitriol.

One of the festival’s standout features is its array of exclusive and special performances. God Forbid’s set celebrating their reunion and 3 Inches of Blood’s first East Coast show in over ten years are sure to be highlights. Additionally, the commissioning of Pallid Veil, which brings together influential members from various celebrated bands, promises a unique and groundbreaking experience.

The festival will also host a rare meet and greet opportunity with Jinjer, offering fans a chance to connect with the band on a personal level.

The Metal Injection Festival isn’t just about the music. Attendees can expect a weekend filled with surprises, giveaways, and a range of vendors showcasing metal merchandise and memorabilia. Each ticket purchased will contribute to a notable cause, with $1 from every ticket going to Headbang for Science. This initiative, founded by SiriusXM host Jose “Metal Ambassador” Mangin, provides scholarships for students pursuing careers in healthcare and physical sciences, making the festival a celebration with a purpose.

Frank Godla, founder of Metal Injection and the festival’s organizer, expressed his excitement for this year’s event. “Last year was an incredible way to kick things off for the Metal Injection Festival, and with this year being our 20th anniversary, I decided to head back to our origins. This year, I bring this mammoth weekend to Brooklyn, NY, with a celebration it’s never seen. The list of artists and special sets on this roster is truly insane, and I couldn’t be happier about how this shaped up.”

Single day tickets and 2-day passes are available for those looking to immerse themselves in the metal spectacle. For more information, ticket purchasing, and the latest updates, visit the official Metal Injection website.
