Hail The Sun

“Wake” 10th Anniversary Tour

With A Lot Like Birds, ZETA, and MOONDOUGH.

I enjoyed shooting the concert at the Masquerade in Atlanta, Georgia. It was a three-hour drive but for this tour, it was well worth it. The crowd was packed with fans wearing merch and some even had special makeup and face paint. I have personally listened to Hail The Sun for years, with “Wake” being my favorite record. The crowd was excited and energetic for the opening acts, with more and more crowd participation with each act. MOONDOUGH, ZETA, and A Lot Like Birds put on an amazing show.

Hail The Sun is an important force in the alternative music scene. Their live performance was a captivating presence accompanied by wonderful lighting. Donovan’s voice was even better live than on the record. The crowd was highly active with lots of crowd surfers. Donovan’s talent for singing while playing the drums was the set’s highlight, giving the crowd a compelling and unique stage presence. The show had a mixture of intricate instrumentals with emotional yet powerful vocals. The band feeds off of the crowd’s energy, making the show an exercise experience. With the setlist mostly from “Wake,” the encores consisted of songs from their new album. They were offering fans and new listeners a mixture of their talented tracks. It’s such a nostalgic feeling leaving this show!
