Hailey Rae Releases “grwm”

On September 20th, 2024- Hailey Rae released her 5th single “grwm” that is meant to bring awareness to others that it’s okay to be your authentic self and find that “self discovery”. Hailey is a 15 year old individual who is currently from NYC and this song has so much meaning behind it. She stated she didn’t mean to write this song, but she was in a bad place at the time when she wrote this song. She wrote this song to express that we mask ourselves to protect yourself from judgement from others and that these fake masks we put on doesn’t necessarily show who we truly are. “I absolutely can’t wait to
get out there and sing my songs live,
” says Hailey. “There is nothing more vulnerable than
putting yourself out there but sometimes we need to do just that to grow and discover our
true selves. I think my songs resonate because what I write exposes feelings that are felt but
not necessarily spoken. I give listeners the opportunity to safely unhide those feelings with
me through my songs
”.

grwm” is a deeply personal and relatable anthem that captures the emotional journey of self-discovery and the pressure of conforming to societal expectations. Hailey invites listeners into a reflective space, where the song becomes a vehicle for reflection on how we often become what others expect of us, rather than embracing our true selves. Lyrically, “grwm” speaks to the universal struggle of trying to fit into molds imposed by society, peers, or even family. Hailey’s message is clear: it’s time to shed those external expectations, kick off the covers of self-doubt, and embrace the unique qualities that make each person wonderfully themselves. This resonates deeply with young listeners who are also navigating their own paths of self-discovery, making the track empowering for anyone who has ever felt the weight of needing to conform. Musically, the song is minimalistic, with simple rhythms and a consistent acoustic guitar track, highlighting Rae’s raw authenticity and youthful energy.
