Bill Nye the Science Guy. He is known for the TV educational series from the ‘90s which I was introduced to in sixth grade science. I had a teacher cool enough to show movies in class but got mad when we all wanted to sing along to his iconic theme song.
“BILL! BILL! BILL! Bill Nye the science guy!”
Did I really know what the event was going to be? Nah. Was I going really just to say I’ve seen him live and I grew up with his TV show in science class? A little. Was it worth it? Sure!
Jokes aside, I thought the whole thing was cool and informative. It was mostly a talk about climate changes over the years and how it can CHANGE THE WORLD. However, maybe it’s just me not being a big science geek and finding some of his jokes only half funny, it felt a bit scattered.
Yes, he had a powerpoint to help things flow but the topics kind of bounced around. There was talk about the climate, we discussed the dinosaurs, space was mentioned, his backstory was given, and yes it’s all science, but it was kind of jumbled. I also was kind of hoping to maybe see some science experiments demonstrated, maybe audience participation.
But, all in all. I think it was super cool to hear Bill Nye talk live. It was an experience and I’m very glad that I was provided an opportunity to check it out.
The talk lasted about an hour and half, closer to two hours which was followed by a Q&A with him. People lined up quickly and questions were asked. It was a very long line. They ranged from serious inquiries such as “How can we help with climate change?” to “What was your favorite part of your TV show?” and he answered them all.
I did not stay to hear all of it, I’m not exactly sure how long the Q&A went for. I imagine a while ?
Go see Bill Nye the Science Guy: LIVE! for an unforgettable night!
