Chrissy & VOILÀ SELL OUT in Milwaukee on a Friday night

Right off the bat, I’m going to say I only knew who Chrissy Costanza was. For those readers who don’t know who she is, she is the lead vocalist in a band called Against the Current (ATC). No, this is not the band breaking up, at least I really hope not. She had expressed at the show that she wanted to just take a step back and see what she as an artist could create without the group. She wanted to explore more in parts that she didn’t try with the band and I respect that. She has amazing vocals and I cannot wait to hear more of what she creates.

Before actually diving into the show, there was one opener. Her name was Ally Nicholas and I thought she was amazing. Her voice was soft and melodic, knowing at least of the headliner, her vibes really fit what I was expecting later on.

Now, VOILÀ, one of the band members is from Wisconsin and it was a special hometown show for him. I cannot even imagine the feelings he was experiencing the whole night with it being sold out and having everyone singing along to all the songs. I was not singing along since I didn’t know the words but the energy all night was there. It was 100% the entire time.

However, I will add, some of the audience had no respect for the opener or for the acoustic bits. This show was in a bar setting with a capacity of roughly 400 people, so sound carries. There were moments when the conversations were louder than the talking or music on stage and that’s blatantly rude. You don’t have to like the part. You don’t have to enjoy it. You don’t have to watch it. But you do need to be respectful to the artists. Keep your voice down or step outside. Just because you don’t know the song, doesn’t mean you need to talk as loud as you can. You’re going to ruin other’s experiences and most of the time, they can hear you on stage in smaller rooms. It’s just disgusting and it breaks my heart when the opener has to be put through this kind of behavior, Okay rant part over. Back to the music.

I really had no idea what to expect, also knowing that Chrissy is from a band with not quite a lot of published discography, as an individual, especially seeing that their stage time was not separated. It was a little bit of roundabout spin the bottle which you know, makes sense now since it was their SPIN THE BOTTLE TOUR. Ahhh, I got it lol.

Both Chrissy & VOILÀ would go back and forth on performing their songs or Chrissy would play ATC tracks with VOILÀ as the backing band. It was a fun night and the overall idea of it being like this was super cool. Every now and then they would bring up a spinning wheel which would choose what song got performed next. Each time they would also bring up a lucky member of the audience to spin it allowing it to be really interactive all the night.

Now unfortunately I was unable to make it the whole show due to work obligations the next morning and I gotta get sleep. But it was a fantastic show and I highly encourage you to grab a ticket if you can to whatever city is closest to you on this tour.
