Lighthouse tour, new singles with Duff McKagan

Duff McKagan has just dropped two new tracks, “Heroes” and “True to the Death Rock N’ Roll Ballad,” now available on all major streaming platforms. The double-sided single pairs include McKagan’s distinctive take on David Bowie’s iconic song “Heroes” with a brand-new original track, showcasing his range as a musician.

This release comes just ahead of the launch of McKagan’s highly anticipated Lighthouse Tour ‘24, which kicks off September 30 in Dublin, Ireland, at The Academy. U.S. fans can catch him live starting November 4 in Boston, MA, at the Paradise Rock Club, as McKagan embarks on a world headline run.

“We thought it was good idea to put out a couple of fresh songs right here on the eve of the Lighthouse tour,” says Duff McKagan. “Choosing David Bowie’s ‘Heroes’ seemed to be a natural subject matter for me (I am of course, a massive history nerd)…star-crossed lovers in the shadow of the mid-70’s cold-war era Berlin Wall. To try and compliment this era, I chose a sort of 70’s glam-rock song that I wrote some time last year, ‘True to the Death Rock N’ Roll Ballad’, another lyric where love and lust and time are the central figures. We hope you dig this ‘single’ and thank you all for just being you!”

Duff McKagan’s Lighthouse Tour ’24 is set to take Europe and the United Kingdom by storm with stops in Scotland, England, the Netherlands, Germany, Czech Republic, Poland, Italy, Switzerland, Belgium, France, and Sweden through late October. Joining him on all EU/U.K. dates will be Cardiff’s rising band, James and the Cold Gun. After wrapping up the European leg, McKagan will head to the U.S. for a series of intimate shows starting November 4 in Boston, MA, with standout performances in New York City at Le Poisson Rouge (November 6), Chicago’s Outset (November 8), and Denver’s Bluebird Theater (November 10).

For the U.S. leg, the tour features special guests Lee Ving’s Range War, marking the first live performances from the legendary FEAR founder’s country-punk project in over three decades. Los Angeles fans can catch the tour at the historic El Rey Theatre (November 13) with support from Duff’s daughter, singer-songwriter Grace McKagan. The tour will conclude with back-to-back shows at Portland’s Aladdin Theater (November 18) and Seattle’s The Showbox (November 20), where punk icon Joey “Sh*thead” Keithley of D.O.A. will give a rare solo acoustic performance. Tickets and VIP packages are on sale now via Duff’s official website.

Additionally, McKagan has announced a special Black Friday Record Store Day (November 29, 2024) release: a vinyl LP capturing his powerful live performance at Seattle’s Easy Street Records from December 2023. This limited-edition release will feature tracks from his Lighthouse album and This Is the Song EP.

Duff McKagan’s Lighthouse Tour ‘24 marks his first solo headline run in half a decade, celebrating the release of his critically acclaimed third solo album, Lighthouse. Praised by Paste as “an emotional, personal, and spiritual reckoning” and McKagan’s “most important rock project yet,” Lighthouse showcases a deeper artistic side, blending acoustic elements with raw rock energy. The album has been applauded by Rolling Stone, Kerrang!, Revolver, and American Songwriter, and features standout singles like “Lighthouse,” “I Saw God on 10th Street,” and “Longfeather,” the latter described by Revolver as “folky, elegiac.”

The album is available across multiple formats, including streaming, download, CD, cassette, and LP, with deluxe editions offering signed Certificates of Authenticity. Fans can also purchase exclusive Lighthouse merchandise from McKagan’s official site.

An expanded digital edition of Lighthouse has been released, including eight additional tracks and live performance videos from McKagan’s December 2023 appearance at Easy Street Records in Seattle, WA. The entire performance is available to stream on YouTube.

This year also saw the release of McKagan’s double-live album, Tenderness: Live in Los Angeles, recorded at the historic El Rey Theatre in June 2019, shortly after the release of his second solo album, Tenderness. The live album features powerful performances of songs from McKagan’s catalog and iconic covers, including Mad Season’s River of Deceit, The Clash’s Clampdown, and Guns N’ Roses favorites like You Ain’t the First, Dust N’ Bones, and Dead Horse.

McKagan’s storied career spans over 40 years, beginning at 15 with bands like The Vains, The Fastbacks, and The Fartz, and later as a founding member of Guns N’ Roses and Velvet Revolver. He’s also a New York Times best-selling author, with works like It’s So Easy: And Other Lies (2011) and How to Be a Man: (And Other Illusions) (2015), and co-hosts the popular Three Chords & The Truth radio show with Susan Holmes McKagan, airing on SiriusXM’s Ozzy’s Boneyard (Ch. 38) and various stations worldwide.
