Chicago pop punk band When The Sun Sets just dropped a banger last month. It’s named Serotonin Sunrise. This single is just one of many that’ll be a part of an upcoming LP release. No exact details have been provided for this, I’m sure we’ll hear more in these coming weeks.
The band describes this track as an upbeat love song about your person even if they haven’t found you yet. I love that description with the title because love is often referred to as a serotonin for the body and sunrises are the start of the day that makes everything feel in place. I personally love watching sunrises and seeing the way the light slowly touches everything. Even if that day sucks, we all know that there is another sunrise that’ll greet us to the fresh beginning of a new day.
Vocalist Zach describes how they use their own experiences to write lyrics that touch on important messages such as mental health and really want their listeners to not feel alone in them. I love bands that want to really get down to the relatable parts in life and put it into music for others to listen to. This song really does get into how one might feel or want to feel about their person and not be able to express it into words because let’s be real, words are hard. Feelings are hard. So, When to Sun Sets’ ability to take these hard to express moments and put them into a song, I applaud you for this.
It’s a high energy, catchy, fun song that just makes me want to dance along to it. I’m not much of a dancer, but this song will definitely get you on your feet. This song is stuck on replay for me.

It’s going to be my listen to over and over for at least the next couple of weeks. It’s an incredibly fire song.
I love the line “stuck on replay” and the way it just fits with the overall sound tracking. Now, it’s not listed in their press release as an influenced band, but this song totally makes me think of State Champs. So, if this review makes it over to them, uh, State Champs take this band on tour with you! They’ll be a perfect opener. Also the lyrics, “Like a serotonin sunrise that I never could replace” is just BEAUTIFUL. Chef’s kiss. MWAH!
If you want to hear this song live next month, you’ve got a few chances to. When The Sun Sets are going on a mini tour starting in Detroit on November 8. Then they’re hitting up Milwaukee on November 9 and Lisle, IL on November 10. Go buy a ticket now! You might see me at the Milwaukee show, who knows?
