On October 18th, 2024- No Horizon released their newest single “Show Me The Light” and a music video as well via Dreambound! I never heard of this band until today, but thankfully for Tiktok; I saw a clip of the video and It was an instant follow. Once I followed them; I went right to Instagram and followed them there! The music video for “Show Me The Light” resembles my type of photography editing with the grainy, static, and cinematic look! The video is not overwhelming which allows the viewer and listener to take in the lyrics. And embrace what the message the vocalist is trying to express. “Show Me The Light” will have you telling yourself that it’s okay to ask for help when you need it and to always look for that light of positivity. What a beautiful and powerful song. It’s okay to ask for help. Don’t deal with pain alone and let it consume you. Look for that light and grasp it. Never let that light go.
“I’m standing on the edge; Reaching towards the end; Fleeting through these thoughts; Now what’s left to mend” The beginning lyrics automatically made me think of someone who is on the verge of not wanting be here anymore and that the thoughts are taking over.
“Falling apart; Could you take this heart; Even to embrace it; Could drag me from the dark; Please God can you fix this; I’m begging for a sign; How can I reclaim; What’s never been mine” The chorus lyrics gives me the feeling that the person is ASKING for help and that they are begging to basically get pulled out of the darkness that consumes them. At this point in the song; you can sense the guidance that the person needs to get out of the darkness.
“Closed inside; Paralyzed; Surrounded by these shadows; Show me the light” I relate to these lyrics because when depression takes a hold of me, I feel like my body is paralyzed, but my mind is consistently consuming my whole being. At times I wish I could see the light to allow myself to ask for help, but with thoughts consuming you; you feel like that light is being blocked by the negative shadows of those thoughts.
“The song explores the experience of falling into depression and the struggle to seek help, even when we feel unworthy or inadequate. We want to share that we can ask for help. It’s never easy but dealing with pain is harder.” – No Horizon
