Full Tilt Overdrive – House of Lords return with new music!

House of Lords made their debut in 1989 with their self-titled album, which remains highly regarded as one of the standout arena rock records of the late 1980s. Featuring the powerful vocals of James Christian and the impressive musicianship of the band, which included former Angel and Giuffria keyboardist Gregg Giuffria alongside Lanny Cordola, Chuck Wright, and Ken Mary, their sound drew comparisons to rock giants like Whitesnake, Deep Purple, and Van Halen. This combination quickly garnered the attention of both mainstream media and a wide audience of ’80s hard rock fans.

Their second album, Sahara, further solidified their place in rock history, achieving radio and video success with their cover of Blind Faith’s “Can’t Find My Way Home.” After touring with Nelson in 1991, the band briefly disbanded. However, in 1992, they returned with a new lineup—though still featuring founding members Giuffria and Christian—and released Demon’s Down. Despite this effort, the changing musical landscape led the band to take a hiatus, resurfacing again in 2000.

Their 2000 release, Power and the Myth, saw a shift toward a more progressive hard rock sound with influences from ’70s rock, which sparked some controversy among their fanbase. After a brief European tour, Christian chose to return to the band’s original arena rock roots. He formed a new lineup with Jimi Bell on guitar and B.J. Zampa on drums, and with the support of Giuffria, who left just before Power and the Myth came out, they released World Upside Down. This album made waves in both the hard rock and melodic rock communities. Following that, House of Lords released a string of successful albums, including Come to My Kingdom (2008), Cartesian Dreams (2009), Big Money (2011), Precious Metal (2014), and Saint of the Lost Souls (2017).

House of Lords has maintained a rigorous touring schedule across Europe and the U.S., establishing themselves as a key player in the hard rock scene worldwide.

The current lineup of House of Lords includes:

  • James Christian – vocals, bass
  • Jimi Bell – guitars
  • Mark Mangold – keyboards
  • Johan Koleberg – drums
