Internationally celebrated punk band Gogol Bordello is hitting the road for their renowned annual holiday tour, this year extending their high-energy, gypsy punk sound to new cities across the United States and beyond. The holiday tour will feature performances in venues from Vermont to New Jersey, ending with a spirited New Year’s Eve show at White Eagle Hall in Jersey City. Adding to the excitement, Gogol Bordello will be accompanied by labelmates Puzzled Panther and Grace Bergere, two rising acts from Casa Gogol Records.
Casa Gogol Records, the label founded by Gogol Bordello’s frontman Eugene Hütz, showcases the gritty, eclectic, and rebellious spirit of “New New York” sound. Among the label’s talent is Grace Bergere, whose debut album A Little Blood has drawn admiration for its dynamic songwriting and rock ‘n’ roll edge. Filmmaker Jim Jarmusch has praised Bergere as “real rock ‘n’ roll,” an artist with a mix of grit and grace. Also joining the holiday tour is Puzzled Panther, the sonic brainchild of Victoria Espinoza, Kay Bontempo, and Yeah Yeahs drummer Brian Chase. Their self-titled album features a powerful cover of Sonic Youth’s “Dirty Boots,” produced by Steve Shelley and Hütz himself.
Ahead of the holiday tour, Hütz and Gogol Bordello violinist Sergey Ryabtsev are embarking on the Scream of My Blood film tour, which offers an intimate look into Hütz’s life as a Ukrainian immigrant and his path to punk icon status. The film, directed by Nate Pommer and Eric Weinrib, premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, where it earned a Special Jury Mention and has received critical acclaim. The tour, featuring film screenings followed by Q&A sessions and live performances, kicked off on October 27 and will visit cities across North America, concluding at The Gramercy Theatre in New York City on November 20.
Following the Scream of My Blood tour, Gogol Bordello will join forces with alternative cabaret band Dresden Dolls for two back-to-back shows on November 1 and November 2 at Boston’s Roadrunner. These shows will give fans a chance to see two of the most boundary-pushing acts perform on the same stage.
