Ashnikko on the Rocks

What better way to kick off the week of Halloween on the rocks than a girls’ night with Ashnikko, the queen of Halloween herself? Her mix of angry, punk, bubblegum pop made for the perfect dance party to stay warm through this late-season show. The night started with an ethereal set from Kezia, followed by the feminine energy of Swedish “BDSM pop” artist COBRAH. Rico Nasty rocked the stage, playing hit songs like “Let It Out” from her 2020 album Nightmare Vacation and the fan favorite “Tia Tamera” by Doja Cat featuring Rico Nasty.

Fans and some Red Rocks staff got into the Halloween spirit, decked out in elaborate costumes—some dressing in Ashnikko’s signature Japanese-inspired look and many hopping in line to layer up with some spooky merch.

Ashnikko, dressed as a deer, was led onto the smoky stage by her troupe of dancers dressed in all red. The show featured synchronized choreography to accompany a dynamic setlist of music from her newest album WEEDKILLER and songs like “Halloweenie VI: Possess Me” and “Slumber Party.” It didn’t take long for Ashnikko to get in her feels, reflecting on the fact that she was performing at THE Red Rocks. She took a moment to appreciate where she was, then jumped straight back into the show.

To celebrate Halloween, Ashnikko led her demidevils in howling at the moon. The artist later performed a super spooky, Halloween-inspired ritual where “the sacrificial fawn defies the blood ritual and performs one of its own, partaking of the flesh of its own kin.” Ashnikko later took to her Instagram, excitedly reminiscing about the night, saying, “Red Rocks, last night was the best show I’ve ever played in my entire career!” Safe to say, Red Rocks spent the night possessed by THE Ashnikko.
