On November 1st, 2024- CERA MAVEN from Germany released their newest single “False Memories” and it gives me dreamcore vibes between the video, lyrics, and the overall song title. As I watched the video and analyzed it, I interpreted as almost like a dream in a way. Like everyone in the video is stuck in a dream of not wanting to move on with life and being stuck in the same mindset that gives you that bliss feeling, but they know that it’s time to continue life and move past those memories. That’s why the video in my opinion is dark and has a lot of blue light to it meaning the person is trying to grapple onto reality and subconsciously something is pulling them back. We tend to sometimes get stuck in the past because the past could’ve held the best times of your life, so at times; we tend to not want to move forward and hold onto those memories. Which is why I believe the video demonstrates what the band is trying to portray in the lyrics.
“The lyrics delve into the human tendency to idealize the past. We often say, “things were better back then,” unconsciously reshaping memories to suit this nostalgic longing. The song reflects a deep, almost obsessive desire to escape into these altered memories, embracing a distorted view of the past. Lines like “I’m trapped in false memories” and “drowning in nostalgia” reveal a struggle to face reality, as memories become an endless loop, holding the listener captive in a dance with their own mind. Our new single, “False Memories,” starts a new chapter for us as we’ve recently signed with Bloodblast Distribution. After nearly two years without releases, we’ve built a strong team and are excited to share +more music in the coming year.” – CERA MAVEN
