Pistols At Dawn Releases Seductive yet Fierce Single “Not Sorry”

On July 19th, 2024- Pistols At Dawn released one of the most desirable and alluring singles of 2024; “Not Sorry“. I know the song has been released for a few months, but I just found this band on tiktok and Instantly couldn’t get enough of it. “Not Sorry” gives me almost manipulation vibes with how seductive the vocals are and how the lyrics are trying to express that the person is done with the toxicity, but they want to make sure you KNOW that you have no control of them anymore. Making the vocals and lyrics a manipulation tactic in a way to tell the person to back off and that they had their chance. Now lets sit down and talk about this video and the imagery it provides to the watcher. I had the chance to talk to the vocalist; Jon Sookdew Sing about my interpretation of the video. This was his response “hahaha you’re actually really close. Adam and Eve was the inspiration behind the imagery. Also for the apple. I actually really like that analysis. The song is an anthem for those who’ve gone through toxic people in their life who try to control them and start getting out of hand when you finally break free.

The way I interpreted the video was the situation with Adam and Eve. If you watch the video; you see an apple with black paint being poured on it. The way I looked at that imagery was that we know the apple means temptation, sinful behavior, so I noticed the female and male statue that matches my interpretation of Adam and Eve. As I continued watching the video; it became clear in my eyes that the black paint being poured onto the apple represents the darkness and obsessiveness the person has which is causing this toxic behavior. Almost like the black paint is trying to hide the true intentions of this sinful behavior. And another thing I noticed in the video is the female statue becoming corrosive during the video and you notice the musicians basically inside of this statue as it falls apart which can resemble the person being stuck in the sinful ways of the other person they are trying to get away from. And the rain in the video could represent basically a cleanse to start healing from this situation. Almost like the rain is washing away that feeling that might make you re-think “Maybe I should give them another chance”

It encapsulates every relationship or moment in your life that have been abusive and corrosive to the soul. Dark themes are counterbalanced by the driving energy to overcome adversity. Poisonous elements and dark spaces represent the internal struggle and the focused intensity to become your own champion. It’s an in-your-face lack of apology for moving forward and making your life your own” – Pistol At Dawn
