Denzel Curry announces album version of King of the Mischievous South, set for release on November 15 via Loma Vista Recordings

Denzel Curry is ready to expand on his King of the Mischievous South legacy with the announcement of a fully-realized album version, due November 15, 2024, through Loma Vista Recordings. This project is an enhances take on the King of the Mischievous South Vol. 2 mixtape he released earlier this year, which already resonated deeply with fans for its homage to Southern rap roots and Curry’s distinct sound.

Alongside the announcement, Curry has dropped a new single, “STILL IN THE PAINT,” featuring hip-hop artists BkTheRula and Lazer Dim 700. Inspired by the fierce energy of Waka Flocka Flame, this track highlights Curry’s commanding presence and featured a visually striking, AMD-directed music video. This single is one of five new songs added to the album’s reconfigured tracklist, which promises to deliver an even more high-octane Southern hip-hop with a fresh collaborations and sonic explorations.

The album not only refines the mixtape but also extends its thematic reach by including features from an impressive lineup that bridges generations of Southern hip-hop. From Memphis icons Juicy J and Project Pat to Texas’ Sauce Walka, the album includes key Southern rap voices, alongside younger talents like Kenny Mason and PlayThatBoiZay. Denzel Curry himself, born and raised in South Florida, masterfully represents the South’s diverse sounds, blending Houston’s chopped-and-screwed vibes with Memphis’ grittiness and Atlanta’s trap influences.

Among the album’s new additions are “GOT ME GEEKED,” a solo track showcasing Curry’s intense lyrical flow, and “P.O.P.,” which features A$AP Ferg and TiaCorine, and “BLACK FLAG FREESTYLE” with That Mexican OT. The project reflects Curry’s respect for Southern rap’s past while pushing its future forward, making it both a nostalgic homage and a bold reinvention.

As part of the album release celebration, Curry hosted a Club Mischievous livestream event in Mexico City on October 31 in partnership with On The Radar. This follows the success of his New York Club Mischievous party held earlier in the summer, which drew fans and critics alike for its electric atmosphere. The Mexico City livestream offered fans worldwide a chance to experience the energy and dynamism of Curry’s music in a unique setting, bridging his international fanbase through a shared experience.
