On a quiet Thursday night in El Paso, TX, the music venue Lowbrow Palace was getting ready for a long night. A typical dark club scene, a large open performance room only seating is along the back wall where a long black leather bench is set up. The bar is actually in a front room separate from the performance area, also a spot for bands to set up and sell their merchandise. The venue was hosting New Orleans based Crowbar with openers local bands Linger and well-established Pissing Razors. Crowbar brought with them Morbid Visionz who performed just before Crowbar. Each band brought their own style to the show.
Linger
A five member metalcore/hardcore metal band from El Paso, they have a very solid sound and the crowd cheered, clapped, head banged and formed a mosh pit with each song they performed. They started out the night getting the crowd excited and hyped up for the other bands there.
Linger has released two digital albums since the beginning of 2023. Their latest digital album released in Oct 2024 is titled, Falling Out of Touch. While performing songs from this album you could see the united, precision and instrumentation was top notch.
I am looking forward to more from this band. When I walked in the venue and walked up to the stage, they instantly reach out their hands and spoke of how excited they were opening for Crowbar. Look up their music at these links.

Pissing Razors
30 years ago, Pissing Razors formed in El Paso, TX. They are a world traveling band that has seen it all. Just before the concert tonight they had just come off a U.S. Tour. Most of their friends, family and fans were there. They kept the crowd energized jumping, headbanging, and screaming for more as each song finished. The experience, skill and ability to talk with their fans showed their depth of their desire to give everyone the best Razor Nation moment.
Pissing Razors have released seven albums since 1994 their latest one in 2021, Eulogy Death March. They consider themselves a punk/groove heavy metal band they have traveled with and performed with Cannibal Corpse, Dark Funeral, Skinlab, Dope, and the list goes on. They have travelled around the world and were a big hit in the Asia music scene, but their home state of Texas in their favorite places to perform.
I have covered Pissing Razors before in this magazine so will not go into a long-detailed description, but I challenge you to go seek out my stories in the magazine to read more. If you are interested to learn more about this band, go to these links.

Morbid Visionz
They are a death metal band from Little Rock, AK, they were formed in 2021. The band vocalist, Ken Grove, bassist Ted Gilliam, and Guitarist Joshua Delack and Andrew Sorrows with drummer, Kirby Westmoreland have formed quickly into a killer death metal band, with heavy guitar riffs and solid drum beats. Their lyrics are intense and heavy, the message is clear they are here to stay.
Besides their original demo album, they have produced two digital albums, Cycle of Cessation in 2021 and then their latest in November 2024, Remnant of Death. The performed many of their songs from both albums. Their music was great, they had a great stage presents but the band performed with all red back lighting giving the band a silhouette look. Great for dramatic effect but for a photographer it does make covering a concert in that light difficult. So, I was not able to capture what they looked like on stage.
Morbid Visionz is a very powerful band, with great music and worth the search to look up their music. I suggest going to these links and following this band and its future.

Crowbar
Crowbar a sludge metal band formed in New Orleans in 1990. Sludge metal rose up from the New Orleans heavy metal scene. Sludge metal comes from a combination of doom metal and hardcore punk. There is a small sector of metal bands that play sludge metal and Crowbar has climbed to the top of that list.
Kirk Windstein vocalist and rhythm guitarist is the original member of the band, he has Matt Brunson as lead guitarist, Shane Wesley as a bass player and Tommy Buckley on drums. They all crank out a pure New Orleans sludge metal sound. Crowbar has been known to do covers of other bands song with more edge to the songs, like “Dream Weaver” by Gary Wright and “Remember Tomorrow” by Iron Maiden. They have opened for bands like Overkill, Hatebreed, and Killswitch Engage. They have released their 12th album titled, “Zero and Below,” they performed “Chemical Godz,” one from their latest album. And then a variety of songs from their other 11 albums. I would not be surprised if we didn’t see another album coming from them soon.
There are numerous ways to find and listen to Crowbars songs just follow these links.
