Coheed and Cambria, the genre-defying progressive rock band, has officially announced their highly anticipated tenth studio album, Vaxis Act III: The Father of Make Believe. Scheduled for release on March 14, 2025, via Virgin Music Group, the album continues the sprawling narrative of The Amory Wars/Vaxis universe. Following their 2022 release, Vaxis Act II: A Window of the Waking Mind, the new project marks a significant step forward in the band’s storied career, blending their signature high-concept storytelling with deeply personal reflections.
To accompany the announcement, the band released the album’s second single, “Searching For Tomorrow,” which arrives with a stunning animated video directed by Anthony Schepperd. The track is an introspective reminder of the importance of appreciating the present while striving for growth. Speaking about the song, frontman Claudio Sanchez shared:
“This song is a reminder that always looking for something better in your life robs you of being able to appreciate the good things you already have. With every album, I try to ‘outdo’ the one before, or at least make something that sounds different and evolved. This one took more effort in the beginning, but in the end, I think the digging was worth it for the subsequent surge.”
The album featured 14 tracks, including the recently released single “Blind Side Sonny,” hailed as one of Coheed and Cambria’s most aggressive songs to date. Together, these tracks reflect the band’s sonic evolution and Sanchez’s personal journey. For the first time, Sanchez takes center stage as the “Father of Make Believe,” blending his role as the creator of The Amory Wars with deeply introspective songwriting about his life and career. From existential musings to the highs and lows of artistic ambition, The Father of Make Believe promises a blend of personal and cosmic storytelling.
