DAWN OF SOLACE releases stirring music video for “Fortress;” New album Affliction Vortex out February 14

Finnish melancholic metal visionaries DAWN OF SOLACE are set to unleash their fourth studio album, Affliction Vortex, on February 14, 2025, via Noble Demon. Building on the critical acclaim of Flames of Perdition (2022), this new release promises to be the band’s most diverse and emotionally charged record yet. Available in CD, vinyl LP, and digital formats, the album is now available for pre-order.

Following the release of the album’s first single, “Murder,” DAWN OF SOLACE offers another glimpse into the depths of Affliction Vortex with their latest track, “Fortress.” Accompanied by a haunting new music video, the song showcases a bold evolution in the band’s sound.

“Fortress shows a new kind of energy and progression in DAWN OF SOLACE music,” explains band mastermind Tuomas Saukkonen (WOLFHEART, BEFORE THE DAWN). “It’s definitely the most intensive song on the new album and the first DoS track with a collaborative lyrical effort. Teaming up with an Australian poet brought a powerful depth to the chorus that felt like wind in the sails.”

Formed in 2005 by Tuomas Saukkonen as a creative outlet, DAWN OF SOLACE quickly gained recognition with their debut album The Darkness (2006). However, a prolonged hiatus due to legal issues left fans yearning for more.

The band made a triumphant return in 2019 after signing with Noble Demon, releasing a string of celebrated projects, including Waves (2020) and Flames of Perdition (2022). These works solidified their place as torchbearers of Finnish melancholic metal.

Affliction Vortex represents the culmination of DAWN OF SOLACE’s artistic evolution. Recorded, mixed, and mastered by Saku Moilanen at DeepNoise Studios, the album is a journey through darkness and catharsis. With its blend of melodic melancholy and unrelenting heaviness, the album is posed to captivate long-time fans and newcomers alike.
