Originally released on May 4, 2015, Peripheral Vision marked a transformative moment for Turnover. With the album, the band evolved their sound from their pop-punk roots to a more atmospheric, shoegaze-inspired aesthetic. The shift earned critical acclaim, with Kerrang! hailing it as “a tour de force.” The record resonated deeply with fans, becoming a cornerstone of Turnover’s discography and helping to cement their reputation as one of the most influential bands in the indie and post-punk revival scenes.
The 10-year anniversary shows come at the peak of a prolific period for Turnover. In 2024, the band completed two extensive U.S. tours alongside acts like MSPAINT, Drook, Queen of Jeans, Glare, and glixen. With their most recent album, Myself in the Way (2022), continuing to receive praise, these anniversary performances promise to highlight both the band’s artistic growth and the enduring impact of Peripheral Vision.
Peripheral Vision is easily one of my all-time favorite albums. It is, simply put, a no-skip LP. Every single song is transcending and ethereal, the tracks flow into one another seamlessly and effortlessly, exemplified brilliantly from “Humming” to “Hello Euphoria,” confessing to the band’s musical expertise early on in their career. The lyrics paint a picture, tell a story, and add nuances to the album that further built on the band’s songwriting, storytelling prowess. Tracks like “New Scream” and “Dizzy on the Comedown” are drenched in dreamy guitars and bittersweet lyricism, evoking the melancholic euphoria of fleeting moments and unresolved longing. The production, rich and immersive, allows the subtle details—ambient textures, melodic basslines, and hushed vocals—to shine, creating a cohesive atmosphere that is both nostalgic and forward-thinking. It has been a fan favorite for almost a decade and stands the test of time even when put against new-age, mainstream releases within the genre. Since discovering the album in 2016, I have been anticipating the anniversary performance of this full-length, alongside many others, for years. Most tracks on this record have never been played live and surely not consecutively, yet this is an album that begs to be listened to front to back; every song is strategically crafted to complement the next. This tour will be one for the books, hearing the entirety of Peripheral Vision live is something I guarantee you will appreciate and not want to miss. Peripheral Vision isn’t just an album; it’s an experience that invites listeners to reflect, drift, and connect, leaving an indelible mark on anyone willing to dive into its introspective depths.
The upcoming tour is more that a commemoration of an album; it’s a celebration of a decade-long journey shared by Turnover and their dedicated fanbase. From the intimate themes of Peripheral Vision to the band’s evolution into genre-defying artistry, these live shows are set to be an unforgettable experience for audiences old and new.
Turnover fans should keep an eye out for additional announcements regarding the band’s plans for 2025. Whether revisiting nostalgic tracks or embracing new creations, the upcoming year promises to further solidify Turnover’s legacy in the indie music world.
