Described by the band as “a sludgy and honest expression of surviving in a world where everyone wants to bite,” “Meat Suit” delves deep into the human experience. Its lyrics explore the cyclical emptiness of life and survival, represented metaphorically as living under a “Meat Suit.” The track captures a relentless hunger and thirst that intensifies with time, creating a stark and thought-provoking narrative.

Musically, the song is a blend of sludgy riffs, raw vocals, and a haunting rhythm section, reflecting the band’s signature alternative sound. The accompanying music video amplifies the track’s dark themes, offering a vivid, immersive visual experience that resonates with its poignant message.

The Intemperate Sons partnered with FRAME|WORK Records under the guidance of acclaimed producers Amir Derakh (Julien-K, Dead by Sunrise, Orgy) and Ryan Shuck (Julien-K, Adema). Their expertise helped shape “Meat Suit” into a dynamic expression of the band’s vision. Derakh, who mixed the track at Synthicide Studios in Long Beach, California, played a crucial role in the production, while Mark Marsh Mastering in the U.K. added the final polish.

Formed in Dallas, Texas, in 2019, The Intemperate Sons—comprised of Max Watson (vocals, guitars, keys), Jake Watson (guitars), Keith Watson (drums), and Mark Marks (bass)—bring a unique mix of ’90s alternative and ’70s influences. Their sound fuses hard rock, grunge, and folk elements, often drawing comparisons to Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, and R.E.M.

Each member contributes to the band’s creative process:

  • Keith Watson, the band’s lyricist and drummer, brings poetic depth to their tracks.
  • Max Watson, as lead vocalist, lends versatility and melodic brilliance.
  • Jake Watson crafts the band’s intricate arrangements.
  • Mark Marks provides the unifying groove on bass, enhancing the band’s dynamic sound.

Not even a global pandemic could slow The Intemperate Sons’ momentum. In addition to their ongoing work with FRAME|WORK Records, they’ve collaborated with legendary musicians like Tony Franklin (The Firm, White Snake), who contributed to their first album, The Color Within.

Their latest single, “Meat Suit,” is part of a growing catalog that showcases the band’s evolution and dedication to pushing musical boundaries.
