Celebrating the 20th anniversary of her acclaimed debut album, Martha Wainwright has announced an expanded North American spring tour and the highly anticipated first-ever vinyl release of her self-titled record, Martha Wainwright.
The tour, featuring 12 newly added dates, will include performances in major cities and iconic venues, such as Le Poisson Rouge in New York City on April 30, 2025. Wainwright will perform her debut album in its entirety, alongside new material, accompanied by a group of talented musicians.
Originally released in 2005, Martha Wainwright was the breakthrough album that catapulted her into the spotlight. Featuring deeply personal songs like “Bloody Mother Fucking Asshole,” a scathing critique of her father, as well as fan favorites like “Factory” and “When The Day Is Short,” the album garnered critical acclaim for its raw honesty and Wainwright’s distinctive vocal and songwriting style.
With accolades from The Sunday Times, Uncut, and Q, the album remains a cornerstone for her career. This spring, the album will be available on vinyl for the first time, alongside previously unreleased outtakes and early material.
Reflecting on her debut’s impact, Wainwright shared:
“Twenty years ago, my life as an artist took shape when my first record was released. In many ways, that record defined me and launched me into a career that has made me who I am. After years of playing in bars, singing backup for my brother Rufus, and pouring my heart into music, this album was my foundation. It paved the way forward.”
The expanded tour includes newly announced performances in cities like Philadelphia, Asheville, and Chicago. Tickets for all dates hit the market this past Friday, December 13, 2024, at 10 a.m. local time, wait no longer to experience Wainwright live on this master tour!
