Canal describes Slowly, It Dawns as the culmination of years of experimentation and personal growth. Following the introspection of her 2022 EP Elegy and the self-reflection of 2023’s WELL WELL, this full-length album represents a moment of artistic clarity and confidence.

“I’m trying to be honest and unapologetic about what I want to put out there, whether it’s wholesome, sexy, loud, quiet, if I’m being femme or masc; I don’t want to apologize for it,” Canal shares.

The album’s title reflects a metaphor for life’s gradual revelations. “Life does feel like the sun rising,” Canal explains. “As you grow, you begin to see things more clearly, navigating messiness and eventually finding spirituality and expansiveness.”

The album’s 12 tracks showcase her versatility, from the indie-pop sunshine of “June Baby” to the contemplative depth of “Totally Fucking Fine” and the Cuban-inspired rhythms of “California Sober.” Each song encapsulates a unique facet of Canal’s journey, crafted over three years between London and Los Angeles.

Fans across the U.S. will have the opportunity to experience Canal’s music live, accompanied by rising artist Jackson Lundy.
