British death metal juggernaut AS THE WORLD DIES has unveiled their latest single, “Dark Oblivion,” along with an accompanying lyric video. The track is the first offering from their forthcoming second studio album, Nebula, slated for release on March 21, 2025, via Reaper Entertainment.
Nebula promises to be a genre-defying experience, blending AS THE WORLD DIES’ signature brand of crushing death metal with elements of cosmis mysticism and apocalyptic storytelling. According to band leader and death metal veteran Scott Fairfax, the record pushes the band’s sound to new extremes.

Drawing inspiration from apocalyptic themes and the ominous asteroid Apophis, Nebula explores the fragility of human existence against the backdrop of cosmic forces. Layered with atmospheric ’80s synth and a haunting industrial edge, the album expands death metal’s boundaries while remaining fiercely aggressive and intricately composed.
The new single, “Dark Oblivion,” encapsulates the essence of Nebula. Featuring AS THE WORLD DIES’ signature heavy and melodic riffs, the track weaves a brooding narrative of apocalyptic despair. “Atmosphere is everything to me,” Fairfax explains. “Songs must tell a story; otherwise, they’re just a collection of riffs.”
