Celtic punk stalwarts The Rumjacks are back with a storm of energy, unveiling their latest single “Cold Like This,” featuring guest vocals from none other than Ken Casey of Dropkick Murphys. The track offers a powerful glimpse into their upcoming sixth album, Dead Anthems, set for release on February 7, 2025, via Four Four Records.
The collaboration with Ken Casey was a seamless fit. Casey expressed his excitement about the partnership, stating, “Loved being a part of this track with my old friends the Rumjacks. I love the band and the song and look forward to hearing the rest of the album.”
Lead vocalist Mike Rivkees shared the song’s origins: written on a frigid Boston night with a windchill of -20°F, the melody started as a sea shanty. Rivkees recalled, “It was stuck in my head from humming the chorus the whole time, so I knew I had to record it.”
Following the success of their 2021 album, Hestia, which Kerrang! hailed as “the complete package,” Dead Anthems promises to be another powerhouse of Celtic punk fused with vivid storytelling and biting social commentary. The album was recorded in Asbury Park, NJ, and co-produced by Mike Rivkees and Pete Steinkopf of The Bouncing Souls, whose production resume includes artists like The Menzingers, Beach Slang, and Gaslight Anthem’s Brian Fallon.
Fans can watch the official music video for “Cold Like This” on YouTube and revisit two previously released tracks: “An Irish Goodbye on St. Valentine’s Day” and “Come Hell or High Water.”
The Rumjacks will celebrate the release of Dead Anthems with a massive U.K. and Europe tour in early 2025, kicking off on January 31 in Florence, Italy. Spanning multiple countries, the tour will include a stop at Red Bridge Fest in Quebec, Canada, on June 7.
