WHITECHAPEL announces release of Hymns In Dissonance on March 7th via Metal Blade Records: New single and video out now

WHITECHAPEL, the genre-defining deathcore band from Knoxville, Tennessee, is set to release their long-awaited full-length album, Hymns in Dissonance, on March 7 via Metal Blade Records. With a reputation for relentless brutality and innovative storytelling, the band’s latest effort promises to be their heaviest and most menacing work to date.

“There is nothing nice about Hymns In Dissonance,” states guitarist Alex Wade. “From the riffs to the lyrics to the overall vibe, we aimed to create something shockingly menacing and brutal.” The album’s concept centers around a cultist gathering followers to sing evil hymns that open a portal for their leader’s ascension. Vocalist Phil Bozeman explains the title’s thematic contradiction: “Hymns are melodious and harmonious, while dissonance represents evil. The tracks on the album are the hymns, symbolizing the seven deadly sins.”

Hymns In Dissonance takes listeners on a dark, narrative-driven journey. The tracklist begins with introductory songs before delving into the seven deadly sins, depicted as musical “hymns.” The closing tracks lead to a climactic reckoning both lyrically and musically.

The first single, “A Visceral Retch,” released this past fall, introduced fans to a heavier and darker version of WHITECHAPEL. Now, the title track, “Hymns in Dissonance,” takes the brutality further. Written primarily by Bozeman, with contributions from the rest of the band, the track features devastating breakdowns and an innovative tuning shift to Drop F for the climactic finale. The accompanying music video, directed by My Good Eyes Visuals, showcases the cultist’s rise and his follower’s devotion through harrowing visuals.

Recorded at guitarist Zach Householder’s studio, Hymns in Dissonance is a self-produced effort, a milestone for the band. Householder, having shadowed producer Mark Lewis on the past five WHITECHAPEL albums, applied his knowledge to produce this ambitious record. “It’s cool that we can be self-sufficient and produce a record of this magnitude ourselves,” he says.

The new album serves as a thematic sequel to This Is Exile while building upon the sound WHITECHAPEL explored in Kin. Fans can expect a cohesive blend of storytelling and unrelenting aggression, brought to life by the core lineup: Bozeman (vocals), Wade (rhythm guitar), Ben Savage (lead guitar), Householder (guitar), Gabe Crisp (bass), and drummer Brandon Zackey.

Hymns In Dissonance will be available in multiple formats, including digital, CD, and vinyl. vinyl variants include striking colorways such as “Eviscerate” (Orange/Yellow Marbled), “Infested Soul” (Neon Green Yellow Marble, Band Exclusive), and several limited-edition European releases like “Golden Dawn Marbled.” Preorders are available now through Metal Blade Records and WHITECHAPEL’s online store.
