Current Joys, Brad Stank, Camille Jansen, Casino Hearts, and more announce a tribute to Nirvana: The Songs of MTV Unplugged in New York

In celebration of the 30th anniversary of Nirvana’s iconic MTV Unplugged in New York, a collective of talented artists from the U.K.,U.S., and Francee—including Current Joys, Brad Stank, Camille Jansen, Casino Hearts, Levitation Room, Chris Staples, and Far Caspian—have united to reimagine the legendary album. This tribute album, titled A Tribute to Nirvana: The Songs of MTV Unplugged in New York, will be released on February 7th across all DSPs and on CD.

The project offers a fresh take on the groundbreaking live album that captured Nirvana’s raw vulnerability and emotional depth. Each artist brings their unique style to this reimagining, honoring the essence of the original tracks while offering new perspectives to the timeless material.

As a first taste of the tribute album, Brad Stank has shared his interpretation of “All Apologies,” bringing a sultry, soulful vibe to the hauntingly honesty original. The track is available to stream now via Paltrocast.

Nirvana’s MTV Unplugged in New York shattered expectations in 1993, presenting stripped-down, deeply personal renditions of their hits and obscure covers. Kurt Cobain and his band bared their souls, revealing a softer, more introspective side that continues to resonate three decades later.

This tribute brings that same spirit of authenticity, reinterpreted by modern artists whose distinct voices offer a fresh perspective. Rather than merely replicating Nirvana’s iconic performances, the album explores these tracks through a contemporary lens while staying true to their emotional core.
