After a three-year hiatus, Rise Against is back with their powerful new single, “Nod,” out now on Loma Vista Recordings. A rally cry for unity and action, the track serves as a resounding statement of the band’s commitment to igniting change in a world filled with division. “Nod” is not just another song—it’s a call to action, fueled by compassion and camaraderie. Lead vocalist and lyricist Tim McIlrath shares that the song embodies the “solace we find in community,” reminding us that in times of turmoil, we are not alone. This collective support can help temper anger and frustration, at least for a moment.
Produced by the talented Catherine Marks (Boygenius, Foals, St. Vincent) and mixed by the legendary Alan Moulder (Nine Inch Nails, Paramore), “Nod” combines emotive lyrics with searing energy. The track opens with Mcllrath’s powerful declaration, “I swear to God this can’t wait,” emphasizing the urgency for change and unity. As he asks, “Are you saving the world so desperately, or are you holding a gun demanding peace?” the song challenges listeners to reflect on their actions and the power of collective resilience.
“Nod” marks the beginning of Rise Against’s next chapter, continuing the fierce social commentary that has defined their career. The song follows the band’s 2021 album Nowhere Generation, which tackled themed of social injustice and the economic instability faced by America’s youth. With a career that spans multi-Gold and Platinum records, billions of streams, and sold-out arenas, Risa Against has continually used their platform to speak out against that matter. “Nod” is no different, with its bulletproof melodies and outspoken message resonating with listeners across the globe.
The band is also hitting the road in support of the new single. Starting with a European tour in late January and early February, Rise Against will perform across the U.K., Ireland, and Europe before joining forces with Papa Roach for a massive U.S. co-headline “Rise of the Roach Tour.” Fans can expect an electrifying live experience, with the band playing both intimate venues and large-scale arenas, continuing to spread their message of unity and action.
