Hannah Cohen announces ‘Earthstar Mountain,’ new album featuring Sufjan Stevens and Clairo

Singer-songwriter Hannah Cohen has announced her fourth full-length album, Earthstar Mountain, set for release March 28, 2025, via Bella Union/Congrats Records. The album, produced by Sam Evian at Flying Cloud Recordings, features collaborations with Sufjan Stevens, Clairo, Liam Kazar, Oliver Hill, and Sean Mullins.

Written over four years in the Catskills, where Cohen relocated in 2018, the album serves as a love letter to the mountain landscape she now calls home. The lead single, “Earthstar,” arrives alongside a 16mm film video directed by CJ Harvey, capturing the changing seasons of the Catskill Mountains.

“‘Earthstar’ is about the complexity of connection, the risk and vulnerability of love,” Cohen explains. “The song grapples with the idea that ultimately, we will never completely know someone.”

The album was recorded at Flying Cloud Recordings, a converted mid-70s home and barn studio where Cohen and partner Sam Owens have hosted sessions for artists like Big Thief, Cass McCombs, and Blonde Redhead. Drawing inspiration from Dusty Springfield, Gal Costa, and Neil Young, Cohen and Owens crafted arrangements that feel both familiar and entirely new.

Earthstar Mountain arrives five years after Cohen’s last full-length record, marking a period of patient observation and creative growth in her mountain home.
