The Intemperate Sons: 90s alt-rock meets 70s spirit in a family affair fueled by heart and raw honesty

An alternative 90s sound that’s obsessed with the 70s. The Intemperate Sons aren’t afraid to lay it all on the line, and wear their hearts on their sleeve. 2019 in Dallas was a fun time for the
Watson family. Keith, Jake and Max started the band and recruited close friend Mark Marks to
fill out on bass and the rest was history.

“Dad had been in bands for the past 10-ish years before we got together,” shares guitarist Jake Watson. “Max and I didn’t know what to do. We were just winging it honestly. Then we went to Los Angeles to do Fantasy Camp with some of the Stone Temple Pilots and Alice in Chains. You get thrown together in a band and have to make a quick set within three days or something like that. We figured out that we were pretty tight just as we were, so we took it to the studio and it progressed from there.”

Their single, ‘Meat Suit,’ that was released earlier this month, was created by Max during a
darker time mentally. He wrote down the line, ‘satisfy the needs of the meat suit,’ and built the
entire song around it in an honest and open way. Another single is set to drop this week, a live
track from their show at the Whiskey A Go Go in Los Angeles.

Later in the spring, a 5-track EP will be released of the performance, to great excitement from
the band. They played seven or eight songs, but picked their favorite bangers from the set, to
really showcase what they sound like live. It’s been a quick five years, it seems, but the horizon is looking pretty great, with some bigger shows yet to be announced; they are expecting this to be their biggest year yet.

“What I’ve learned is I love to gig and create and hang out and have a really good time with my
family,” muses Keith. “As a father, that’s, you know, ‘geez’, you know. We all have different
tastes, but we all make something out of it.”

“What I’ve learned is I don’t want to play with any other fucking band,” adds Max. “Absolutely
not. I found the guys I want to play with.”
