Peach Pit reimagines “Did You Love Somebody” with Sir Chloe ahead of ‘Magpie (Expansion Pack)’ release

Peach Pit is back with a fresh take on Magpie—literally. The Vancouver indie-rock quartet has announced Magpie (Expansion Pack), an extended edition of their 2023 album, set for release on May 9 via Columbia Records. The expanded collection includes eight alternate versions, a cover, and an entirely new song, “Tell Me You Love Me.”

To celebrate the announcement, Peach Pit has unveiled a reimagined version of “Did You Love Somebody” featuring Sir Chloe. The collaboration transforms the song into an intimate back-and-forth between two lovers questioning the security of their relationship.

A New Perspective on “Did You Love Somebody”

The original Magpie version of “Did You Love Somebody” framed the track as a solo lament—a singular voice longing for reassurance. But as lead singer Neil Smith explains, the band always envisioned the song as a duet. Enter Sir Chloe, whose contribution to the song includes a newly written second verse, shifting the narrative into a heartfelt, conversational plea between two partners.

“Now with Chloe’s duet vocals and new second verse written by her, the song has changed into its true form,” Smith shared. “It’s an intimate conversation between a couple experiencing the doubts and insecurities that show up when you’re falling in love.”

Sonically, the duet builds upon Peach Pit’s signature warm, guitar-driven melancholy, enriched by Sir Chloe’s moody vocal interplay. The result? A song that feels more raw, more urgent, and more honest than ever.

A tour-heavy 2025 for Peach Pit

Peach Pit isn’t slowing down anytime soon. Following the release of Magpie (Expansion Pack), the band is set for an ambitious global tour spanning Australia, New Zealand, Europe, the United Kingdom, and the United States. With stops at legendary venues like Red Rocks Amphitheatre, the Greek Theatre, and Petco Park, the tour cements Peach Pit’s evolution from cult indie favorites to full-fledged festival headliners.

The upcoming expansion pack will also feature a live version of “Magpie” recorded in Bangkok, a full-band rendition of “Your Long Black Hair,” and alternate takes of fan-favorite tracks, offering a deeper look into the creative process behind Magpie.

With “Did You Love Somebody (feat. Sir Chloe)” setting the tone, the Magpie (Expansion Pack) is shaping up to be more than just a collection of extras—it’s a thoughtful extension of the emotions and themes that made Magpie resonate so deeply in the first place.
