Lacuna Coil unleashes a new music video for “I Wish You Were Dead” with its new album

With just days before the release of their highly anticipated album Sleepless Empire, Lacuna Coil kept the excitement high by dropping a music video for their latest single, “I Wish You Were Dead.” The video, directed by Martina L. Mclean, was shot in a historic church in Capranica, Italy.

On February 14, the band released its tenth studio album, Sleepless Empire, via Century Media Records. Following the success of Comalies XX in 2022, this latest release spans 11 tracks, each painting a dark, cinematic landscape that is undeniably Lacuna Coil.

Speaking about “I Wish You Were Dead,” the band has shared: “We all have that one person we wish we could erase from our memories, someone who hurt us but still takes up space in our minds. This song channels that feeling in an unexpected way—heavy lyrics set against a surprisingly uplifting musical backdrop. Frankly, we’re a bit tired of always playing it safe.”

Lacuna Coil also gave some insight to the new album: “Sleepless Empire is our reflection on a generation caught between two worlds: the analog past and the digital present. Social media has blurred identities, pushing us towards an existence that often feels hollow. This album is a call to reclaim ourselves, to fight against becoming soulless in a world that never slows down
