Blythe’s first memoir, “Dark Days,” was a deeply introspective work, detailing both his struggles and triumphs. “Just Beyond The Light” expands upon this foundation, delving into the ways he actively maintains a sense of balances and perspective amidst life’s chaos. According to Blythe, this book serves as “a tight, concise roadmap of how I have attempted to maintain what I believe to be a proper perspective in life, even during difficult times.
Written with Blythe’s signature wit, sharp humor, and raw honesty, “Just Beyond The Light” explores themes of sobriety, art, and surfing, while touching on his Southern upbringing, fallen friends, and lessons learned on the road. The books aims to offer readers a sense of hope, proving that even in seemingly hopeless situations, finding balance is possible.
“For me, the single most gratifying aspect of being an artist is learning that your work has been useful to others in some way. I’ve been told by lots of readers that my last book, Dark Days, helped them—I hope Just Beyond the Light does the same,” Blythe reflects.
