Acclaimed indie-pop duo Tennis has official announced their eagerly anticipated seventh studio album, Face Down In The Garden, set for release on April 25, 2025, via their own Mutually Detrimental label. The album follows 2023’s critically acclaimed Pollen and continues the husband-and-wife duo’s evolution into an even more expansive and emotionally resonant sound. Pre-orders and pre-saves for the album are available now.
According to Alaina More, Face Down In The Garden was shaped by a tumultuous period of life and creativity. “The inspiration for new work came while we were still on the road tour Pollen,” she explains. “We felt a clear pull to write new music, but ran up against a series of bizarre setbacks. We blew tires and lost an engine. I developed a chronic illness. We took a doomed voyage that culminated in an attempted robbery at seat. Fragments of songs that first arrived like gifts from the universe later refused to be completed. Our days were awash in major and minor crises that dragged the album out endlessly.”
Despite these challenges, Tennis channeled their experiences into a deeply reflective album that explores personal memories and pivotal life moments. Moore describes the project as “a tracing of my life through a series of vignettes: a first moment of connection, a conversation at a wedding, a night offshore, a tour diary.” The result is an album that promises to be both intimate and sonically adventurous.
The first single from Face Down In The Garden, “Weight of Desire,” is now available on all streaming platforms. Accompanied by a stunning music video directed by frequent collaborators Blossom Liu and Danny Gray, the song captures Tennis’ signature blend of ethereal melodies and emotionally charged storytelling.
The track exemplifies the album’s balance of nostalgia and innovation, combining delicate instrumentation with deeply introspective lyrics. As the band moves beyond their girl-group influences, Face Down In The Garden showcases a fuller, more cinematic sound that is sure to captivate longtime fans and new listeners alike.
To support the album release, Tennis will embark on an extensive North American headline tour, beginning May 16 in Las Vegas, NV, and running through early September. The tour will feature a lineup of special guests, including Husbands—May 16-17—Billie Marten—May 21-June 11—and Alice Phoebe Lou—August 18-September 4. Stops include major cities such as New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Toronto, with performances at iconic venues like The Greek Theater The Rooftop at Pier 17, and First Avenue.

Tickets for all dates went on sale this past Friday, February 14, at 10:00 a.m. local time. Fans eager to experience Tennis’ latest work live can visit tennis-music.com for full tour details and ticket availability.
