On Friday, February 21, Brighton Music Hall set the stage for the tour kickoff of co-headlining acts The Hails and Never Ending Fall. Despite Boston’s biting winter cold and frozen streets, the venue was packed to capacity, showcasing the bands’ growing reputations and the undeniable draw of a live performance to break up the monotony of the winter season.
Although I had not been closely following either act before the show, the sheer enthusiasm of the crowd spoke volumes. Every seat was filled, and the air buzzed with anticipation as fans eagerly awaited an evening of fresh sounds and unexpected moments.
Never Ending Fall wasted no time getting the crowd going with their set. The songs chosen were a mix of their latest album, American Disco, and included a particularly memorable and danceable rendition of Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now” to close out their set with a bang.
The Hails, for their part, delivered a set that was both introspective and energetic. They performed a selection of tracks from their debut album, What’s Your Motive, interspersed with their newly released single “Different Guy,” which had dropped just a day prior to the tour.
In many co-headlining tours, one act often overshadows the other—leaving the opening set to perform before a half-empty room or the headliner to follow an already dwindled crowd. This tour, however, was a welcome exception. The venue remained packed throughout, with fans passionately belting out every lyric for both bands. Even on a frigid Boston night, the performance at Brighton Music Hall proved that great music has the power to warm even the coldest evenings.
The tour continues through the end of March, visiting cities across the country. Visit here to catch them in your city!
