Rico Nasty announces bold new album ‘LETHAL’ set for release on May 16

Rico Nasty is back and louder than ever. The boundary-pushing rapper has announced her highly anticipated third studio album, LETHAL, dropping on May 16 through Fueled by Ramen (Atlantic Music Group). To kick off her new era, she’s released the lead single, “TEETHSUCKER (YEA3x),” a rap-rock anthem that showcases her signature blend of aggression and playfulness.

“‘TEETHSUCKER (YEA3x)’ was both the first song I wrote for the album and the first song I ever wrote with Imad Royal, who executive produced LETHAL,” Rico shares. “We all knew this song was special from the moment we turned it in. And what’s a better way to start the new era than by poppin’ out like a titty????” Fans can pre-order the album here.

Rico Nasty has always been a game-changer, breaking boundaries with her unique blend of sugar trap melodies, punk rock energy, and skull-rattling beats. Since her breakout in PG County, Maryland, she’s redefined the image of a female rapper, fusing hard and soft aesthetics with raw, unapologetic energy. But after the release of her 2022 album, La Ruinas, Rico found herself at a crossroads.

“I was caught in the space of wanting to be understood by the masses, but also recognizing that maybe I’m not supposed to be,” she confesses. Feeling pigeonholed by her own persona, she took a step back to rediscover herself. “I felt like I was living in character… but that gets exhausting.”’

The year-long journey that followed was one of introspection and growth. Rico embraced real-life experiences, got serious about therapy, and ditched the teenage rave aesthetic for a more mature, powerful style. During this transformative period, she parted ways with her management team and went solo. But a chance to perform with Paramore in 2023 led her to Fueled by Ramen—a label known for its edgy, boundary-defying artists.

“I wanted to be somewhere a little bit more edgy, where I had more space to grow and be whoever I felt like being,” Rico explains. Fueled by Ramen gave her the creative freedom she craved, allowing her to stay true to herself while evolving as an artist.

LETHAL marks a new chapter for Rico Nasty, blending her signature “sugar trap” sound with a mature, sophisticated twist. Executive produced by Imad Royal, known for his work with The Chainsmokers and Panic! At The Disco, the album balances playful femininity with raw, aggressive energy.

The 15-track project sees Rico embracing her daulity with confidence. Tracks like “Pink” and “Butterfly Kisses” celebrate the divine feminine, while “TEETHSUCKER” and “Soul Snatcher” unleash a monster-truck-show level of energy. “I’m putting my flag on the moon: This is my shit. This is what I do,” Rico declares. “It’s not an act. It’s not a phase… This been the vibe.”

With LETHAL, Rico Nasty isn’t just playing a character; she’s embodying main character energy. “This album is about being confident and saying fuck everybody else,” she explains. “It’s about getting doors slammed in your face and people telling you to try it their way again and again, and you stay true to yourself and it works. That’s what this project is. It’s an ode to yourself.”

Rico Nasty is back—bolder, louder, and more unapologetically herself than ever before. LETHAL drops on May 16, and if “TEETHSUCKER (YEA3x)” is any indication, this new era is set to be her most explosive yet. Don’t miss it!
