On February 21st, 2025- Morning In May released their newest single “Shania Pain (Man I Feel Like A Loser)” that hit #12 on Billboards Hot Singles Sales Chart! Before I even started listening to the single; the name of the song automatically reminded me of song names that bands use to come up with back in the early 2000’s which honestly if the song name didn’t make sense, you knew the song was going to absolute heat. And this single is the definition of nostalgia. Morning In May stays true to their roots with bringing back this type of style and I am here for it because music like this brought happiness to us at times when we truly needed it. And the video for this track is fun, vintage style almost, and shows the true life behind a band creating content and being on the road. “Shania Pain (Man I Feel Like A Loser)” is the perfect anthem for self awareness and discovery as well as to understand not everyone around you is meant to be there. And this track allows the listener and possibly other musicians to understand that as well. Especially being in the music industry; you realize very quickly at times that not everyone is there to support you and when that occurs, you have to bring awareness to yourself that you need to accept that. And accept where you are in life because not everything is handed to you and you have to work hard to get where you need to be. “Shania Pain (Man I Feel Like A Loser)” is the perfect example for anyone that needs to understand that awareness.
“We wanted to document the week that Shania Pain came out. The tour and just show people what it’s like on the road. I wanted a video that the next generation of bands can watch and be inspired. Like the low budget, buddy hang videos before the band popped off. Writing Shania felt like literary freedom. Our whole career I always felt like we were in the wrong place or around the wrong people. The song is more about acceptance of yourself wherever you are and mental suspension.
