Grace VanderWaal returns with playful new single “Babydoll” featuring Aliyah’s Interlude

Grace VanderWaal, the internationally acclaimed artist and actress, is back with her latest single, “Babydoll” featuring Aliyah’s Interlude. The new track showcases a playful, bratty pop vibe, marking a stark contrast from her introspective hit “What’s Left of Me.” This release signals an exciting new era for the 21-year-old award-winning artist.

Described as an “unabashedly bratty pop anthem,” “Babydoll” explores themes of self-assurance with diva-like confidence. VanderWaal explains the creative inspiration behind the track, sharing, “In the studio, we were talking about acting bratty, going out, wanting everything, and being a diva. Tiffany Stringer and I had the idea to write a song from our alter egos’ perspective. We named mine Baby Doll: who doesn’t like to be told no. I had an amazing time writing and creating it.”

The track pairs up-tempo beats with catchy melodies, embracing a fun, carefree attitude that highlights VanderWaal’s versatility as an artist. It serves as the perfect follow-up to the emotionally charged “What’s Left Of Me,” confessing to her ability to balance depth and playfulness in her music.

The single is accompanied by an official music video directed by Sophie Hur, known for her bold artistic vision. The visuals amplify the song’s bratty energy with vibrant colors, playful choreography, and a rebellious, diva-like persona that fully embodies the character of “Baby Doll.”
