Indie-pop artist Cyn has taken her creative expression to new heights with the launch of the Valley Girl Zine and the release of a co-directed visual for fan-favorite track “Love You Like I Want To.” The multi-talented singer-songwriter has combined her love for storytelling and DIY artistry to offer fans a deeper, more tactile experience of her debut album, Valley Girl.
This handmade zine, a 20-page booklet filled with poetic blurbs, San Fernando Valley guides, style tips, and quizzes, offers fans an intimate look at Cyn’s world. “Creating the Valley Girl Zine was a labor of love, and I had a blast doing it!” Cyn says. The zine was painstakingly crafted by hand, with pages designed through scissors, glue, and magazine clippings, giving it an authentic, personal touch. After assembling the pages, Cyn scanned and printed them, keeping the charm of old-school DIY publishing alive.
Alongside the zine, Cyn also dropped a captivating visual for “Love You Like I Want To.” The track, from her Valley Girl album, breathes a new life with this playful, no-strings-attached performance video, which Cyn co-directed. “I feel so lucky to be able to extend the story of this song,” she shares. “I had so much fun dressing up for this shot and I think we nailed it.” Watch the video on YouTube now for a glimpse into Cyn’s unique vision.
The release of the Valley Girl extended edition (out now via UnSub Records/Capitol Records) brings together 12 tracks, including fan favorites like “Drinks,” “House With a View,” “Losing Sleep,” and “Where Do All The Diamonds Go,” as well as three new songs: “Sweet,” “Sink Your Teeth In Your Tongue,” and “The Smiths.” This extended version marks a milestone for Cyn, who’s made her mark with a fresh and vibrant sound that speaks to the indie-pop scene’s heart.
Fans at Cyn’s recent Mercury Lounge performance were treated to early copies of the Valley Girl Zine—her first show in nearly five years. Cyn has been vocal about the personal significance of her album and the zine. “I wrote this album to make myself feel better, and so that is what I wish for whoever listens,” she shares. “With this music, I hope you feel inspired to smile, dance, laugh, and to feel that you are absolutely the main character in your own rom-com.”
The Valley Girl Zine is available now, offering a deeper connection to Cyn’s creative process. Her full-length debut album Valley Girl (Extended) is also available on limited edition baby pink and spring green vinyl via her official website.
