Thornhill unveil bold new single “TONGUES” ahead of upcoming album BODIES

Australian heavyweights Thornhill are igniting anticipation for their forthcoming album BODIES with the release of their blistering new single, “TONGUES.” Set for release on April 4 via UNFD, BODIES is already shaping up to be Thornhill’s most immediate and daring work yet. In tandem with the new single, the band continues to dominate stages on their first-ever North America headline tour, which has already seen sellouts in Los Angeles and low ticket warnings across multiple dates—two months before they hit the stage.

Following the success of their previous singles, “Silver Swarm” and “never,” Thornhill’s latest release, “TONGUES,” delivers an intense reflection on internal conflict. The track balances swirling melodies with gut-punching heaviness, capturing the struggle between desire and resistance, surrender and defiance—both in relationships and within oneself.

“‘TONGUES’ explores the tension of being pulled between opposing forces,” the band explains. “In many ways, it reflects our own relationship with heavy music—the push and pull between being consumed by it or resisting its grip. The song’s atmosphere feels like an ongoing battle, shifting between aggression and restraint.”

With evocative lines like “turning your tongue in two” and “fingernails down the walls,” the track elevates the raw emotionality fans have come to expect from Thornhill, while pushing their sound into new territory.

Building on the foundation laid by 2022’s Heroine and 2019’s The Dark Pool, BODIES promises to be Thornhill’s boldest statement yet. Described by the band as a sonic moodboard, the album trades conceptual rigidity for a spontaneous, visceral energy, capturing the band are they are right now.

“‘BODIES’ marks a bold evolution in our ever-developing sound,” Thornhill shares. “‘Heroine’ was defined by its meticulously crafted and tightly woven concept, but the weight of this careful construction sometimes overshadowed the energy of the music itself. With ‘BODIES,’ we’ve embraced a more immediate, unfiltered approach that feels like a lightning bolt.”

The album includes previously released tracks such as “Silver Swarm,” “nerv,” and “Obsession,” and feature anthemic highs and crushing lows that promise to be both intense and celebratory. Pre-orders for BODIES are available now.
