Final stop, full send: Acres ignites Webster Hall

Webster Hall. Sunday night. The last night of the tour.

The kind of show where you can feel it in the air—the weight of weeks on the road, the last burst of adrenaline before it’s all over, bands leaving it all on stage one final time together.

For Acres, nearing the end of the first leg of their North American tour, things had already hit a snag. A vehicle breakdown forced them to cancel their Nashville show—never an easy call for a band grinding it out on the road. But if there was any lingering frustration, you wouldn’t have known it. When Acres hit the stage at Webster Hall, they played like a band with something to prove. Like they weren’t leaving New York City without making damn sure everyone in that room felt every note.

As the first band of the night, Acres had the job of waking up the crowd. And they did. Their biggest moment came when they unveiled their brand-new single, “Bloodlust.” Dropping new material in a room full of people who might be hearing them for the first time is a risk, but judging by the reaction, it paid off.

The energy in Webster Hall only intensified from there. With Boundaries bringing pure, unfiltered aggression, Holding Absence complemented them with their signature emotional catharsis. And the headliner The Plot in You closed out the night, shaking the house to its core. The entire lineup was locked in.

Acres’ lead singer, Ben Lumber, returned to the stage during The Plot in You’s set to tear through “Forgotten” alongside Landon Tewers. The energy in the room peaked. The mosh pit devoured everything in its path, tossing bodies like wreckage, only for the crowd to catch them, lift them up, and pass them forward.

For the four bands who spent weeks on the road together, this was the send-off they deserved. For the fans packed into Webster Hall, it was one of those nights they wouldn’t forget. And for Acres, after the earlier setbacks on tour, it was the exclamation point on tour that has sold out nearly every venue. The U.K. post metalcore band will resume their North America tour in mid-April, switching line ups to support The Devil Wears Prada, as well as releasing their new album The Host, via Solid State Records, on May 2.
