Confidence Man steals the scene at Webster Hall

Confidence Man brought their chaotic, high-energy live show to a packed crowd at Webster Hall on March 22. Electropop isn’t usually my go-to genre, but it took less than a song for Confidence Man to pull me into their orbit. Their shows are a mix of chaos and precision—pure, unfiltered energy wrapped in theatrical flair.

Touring in support of their third album, 3AM (La La La), the duo—fronted by Janet Planet and Sugar Bones—has become a staple at festivals across the U.K., Europe, and Australia. This year alone, they won Best Breakthrough Artist at the BBC Radio 1 Dance Awards and were nominated for Best International Group at the BRITs. The buzz is real—and their live show makes it obvious why.

I walked into Webster Hall expecting a performance. What I got was a full-body experience! Everything just works: part dance routine, part performance art, wrapped in a ‘90s club-kid aesthetic. It’s bold, weird, and totally dialed-in—like every movement and lighting cue is part of the same fever dream. But even with all that structure, it still feels alive and unpredictable.

For everyone in the audience, just a few songs in, the illusion (the con, if you will) sets in. Time blurs. Lights pulse. Beats hit deeper. Confidence Man doesn’t just perform—they disorient, seduce, and fully transport you. I was supposed to be documenting the show—not becoming part of it.

I came in curious. I left converted. Confidence Man pulled off the ultimate con.

And yeah—I loved every second of it.
