LA-based, Chicago-bred indie-rock quartet The Walters have finally unveiled their long-awaited debut album, Good Company. The 12-track collection showcases the band’s signature blend of rich harmonies, progressive pop melodies, and introspective lyricism, offering listeners an immersive and heartfelt experience.
Speaking on the album, The Walters shared, “Good Company is the album we’ve always wanted to make—a reflection of our story, our friendships, and the highs and lows along the way. We grew up on albums. They’ve shaped us as individuals and musicians. In today’s music world, albums may not carry the same weight they once did, but to us, they remain the purest expression of an artist and an era. Good Company is a reflection of who we are—whether it’s playing in someone’s car on a road trip or discovered in a crate of vinyl decades from now. After ten years as a band, we’re proud to finally share our first full-length album.”
The release of Good Company is accompanied by the official music video for the album’s contemplative title track. Directed by Vera Heddad (Andy Shauf, Florist), the video draws inspiration from Georges Méliès’ silent film A Trip to the Moon, depicting the band exploring different timelines and the endless possibilities of life’s journey.
The Walters are also gearing up to hit the road, joining half•alive on their North American tour, which kicks off tonight at the House of Blues in San Diego, CA. The 24-date trek will take them across the U.S. and Canada, with stops at major venues, including Brooklyn Paramount in NYC (April 12) and Los Angeles’s Hollywood Palladium (May 2). Tickets for all dates are available now at www.yourwalters.com.
The album was preceded by the singles “Broken Hearts and Memories” and “Life On The Line.” The latter, co-written by Adam Melchor and Doug Schadt (Maggie Rogers, Wet), captures the band’s signature warmth and heartfelt storytelling, with Luke Olson singing of deep commitment.
Since forming at a DePaul University house part in 2014, The Walters have experiences an extraordinary journey. Their very first song, “I Love You So,” became a viral sensation, earning 3x Platinum certification and amassing over two billion streams worldwide. Along the way, the band has played Lollapalooza, split up and reunited, signed to a major label, and ultimately returned to their independent roots.
Drawing from an eclectic array of influences, Good Company weaves together the lush harmonies of The Beach Boys and The Four Tops, the layered textures of Pet Sounds, the poetic storytelling of Neil Young, and the modern charisma of Dr. Dog and The Strokes. The result is a genre-blending record that speaks to audiences with sincerity and maturity, reinforcing The Walters’ status as one of indie rock’s most captivating acts.
