Shannon and The Clams Live At Respectable Street

Shannon and the Clams is an California-based band, composed of Shannon Shaw on the bass guitar and vocals, Cody Blancard on guitar and vocals, Will Sprott on the keyboard, and Nate Mahan on the drums. Their signature garage-soul sound infused with elements of surf rock and classic doo-wop left the crowd at Respectable Street in awe. Their latest album, released this spring, The Moon Is In The Wrong Place, invites listeners on a melancholic voyage through portals of grief, loss and death while also exploring contrasting themes of commemoration, rapture and liberation.

On this evening the band played “Bean Fields” as part of their eclectic setlist which filled the crowded venue with a light, upbeat energy – a reminder that amidst loss, there is still room for light-hearted remembrance. The 50’s style ballads carry the all encompassing truth of duality with a dreamy overtone that explores a full spectrum of emotions.

Their performance on this evening was a true testament of their ability to alchemize heavy emotions into a vivid, introspective record which brought forth a celebratory energy amidst the concert attendees. With emotionally raw lyricism and a high-spirited energy amongst the band, Shannon and the Clams performance on this night left a trace of what could only be perceived as true magic.
