Woe is Me was formed in 2009 in Atlanta, Georgia, and quickly climbed the ranks in the American metalcore scene. Their first album, Numbersimpressively hit No. 16 on the Billboard Top Heatseekers Chart after being released in August of 2010. They are known for their emotional lyrics, powerful breakdowns, and melodic hooks. Their new single is no exception. Band members Michael Bohn (vocals), Hance Alligood (vocals), Kevin Hanson (guitar), Andrew Paiano (guitar), and Matthew Whyde (drums) bring out the big guns with the intensity of their sound in this new single. Michael Bohn’s screams are forceful, and brings a raw emotion to the song that combines beautifully with the lyrics. The melodies sung by Hance Alligood fluctuate in tone, taking the listener on a journey throughout the three minutes and 19 seconds of this single.

One of the lyrics that stood out to me was in the chorus: “I’d burn the whole world down if you asked me to, but it never meant that much to you.” The lines resonated with me as a person who tends to give my all to people who don’t reciprocate the same effort and love back to me. I’ve been a huge metalcore fan since my teenage years, and the new sound of Woe is Me reminds me of other bands I’ve loved, such as A Day to Remember and Beartooth.

Woe is me will be performing their new single along with other songs at the Louder Than Life Festival in Louisville, KY, on September 20. Stay tuned for more tour announcements and more news on the upcoming album.
