Carter Faith delivers a delicious dose of pettiness with new single “Grudge”

The North Carolina native leans into her Dolly roots on a country kiss off you’ll want to loop all summer

Carter Faith is not here to play nice. The rising Nashville songwriter just dropped her latest single, Grudge,” and it’s as delightfully petty as its name suggests. With soaring vocals, tongue in cheek lyrics, and a little wink of sass, the track sounds like something Dolly Parton might’ve penned after someone pushed her one rhinestone too far.

Grudge arrives alongside a lyric video and gives fans another taste of what’s to come as Faith gears up for the release of her debut album. “It’s just a silly little song I wrote to get some pettiness out of my system,” Faith says. “I think we all have one or two people we can think of who pissed us off good ;).”

And let’s be honest, country music is at its best when it’s a little bit hurt, a little bit angry, and a whole lot catchy. Faith’s vocal delivery channels both bite and beauty, blending traditional country storytelling with the breezy confidence of a rising star who knows exactly what she’s doing.

Co-written with Tofer Brown and Steph Jones, the track gives off strong “smile while you suffer” energy, the kind that’s tailor made for blasting with the windows down or belting dramatically into a hairbrush. It’s petty, yes, but it’s also polished and incredibly fun.

Faith’s release comes in the middle of a jam packed year. She just kicked off a tour run with Carly Pearce, is set to make her Stagecoach debut this month, and will join Little Big Town on their national amphitheater tour this summer. Add that to a long list of accolades from a duet with Alison Krauss on last year’s The Aftermath EP to features in Billboard, American Songwriter, CMT, and MusicRow’s Next Big Thing and it’s clear: Carter Faith is fast becoming country’s next must watch name.

Born and raised in North Carolina and now based in Nashville, Faith brings a grounded charm to her storytelling. Her songs, including fan favorites like “Wild,” “Greener Pasture,” and “Already Crazy,” have already racked up more than 129 million streams. And whether she’s performing at the Grand Ole Opry or sharing the stage with Willie Nelson, Keith Urban, and Shaboozey, she proves again and again that she’s equally at home in the spotlight or on a front porch with a guitar and something to get off her chest.

Grudge” is out now on all platforms. For fans of vintage twang with a modern bite, this one’s for you.
