New York City-based indie pop artist, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Leah Nawy has released “Mixing Patterns,” a radiant slow burn that marks a creative breakthrough and a personal turning point. The new single is available now on all platforms, just ahead of her live performance tomorrow night at The Cutting Room in New York City.
Co-produced with James Sleeman, “Mixing Patterns” builds like a quiet revelation. It begins with delicate textures and soars toward a cathartic, lo-fi groove. Lyrically, the track is an exploration of rebirth, of letting go of old habits and embracing change. “It’s about starting over on your own terms,” Nawy shares. “Letting go of old habits, trusting yourself, and embracing change. It’s the first song that truly felt like me, and it’s followed me through every stage of becoming the artist I am now.”
Her emotive vocals guide the track through shifting sonic terrain, mirroring the emotional layers being peeled back. There’s stillness and motion, tension and release, a sonic parallel to the way clarity often comes in waves. The bridge hits with high energy, while the outro lands in a soft, soul-tinged pocket, reflecting the growth that comes from giving yourself permission to start fresh.
Drawing inspiration from Brittany Howard, Mitski, and Japanese Breakfast, Nawy brings a thoughtful elegance to her work. With roots in classical training and live bands across New Jersey’s music scene, her approach blends technical depth with raw, emotional storytelling. Her music weaves elements of indie rock, folk, and soul into songs that feel simultaneously intimate and expansive.
Catch Leah Nawy live at The Cutting Room in NYC tomorrow night and follow her on Instagram, Spotify, and YouTube to stay tuned for what’s next.
