Jade Bird announces new album alongside new single

English singer-songwriter Jade Bird is back on the scene with the announcement of her forthcoming record, Who Wants To Talk About Love?, her third full-length album, expected June 18 via Glassnote Records. The announcement follows the successful release of last month’s return single, “Who Wants,” and is paired with the release of “Dreams.”

Produced by Grammy-winner Greg Kurstin, “Dreams” is a bright, soaring track about reconciling lofty dreams with reality, and the journey along the way. In her own words, “Dreams” is a “very dark song. I saw a billboard driving to the studio after a bit of a nasty breakdown. I’d gone to sleep at five am the night before and read ‘this is what dreams are made of’. Combined with the LA sun I felt a deep irony. It’s about feeling too broken to be with the person you love. Pushing them away because of generational habits and (I don’t like the word) trauma.”

Who Wants To Talk About Love? is a form of self-therapy, the culmination of years of introspection, the acknowledgement of difficult history necessary in order to keep moving and growing – an unavoidable moment that demands attention, no matter how difficult it is to face. Bird says, “I wrote this album while trying to make sense of the broken relationships in my family- my parents, both sets of grandparents – and the way they echoed into my own life when my engagement ended. It’s as much a question as an answer, wondering if I could break the cycle while finding my own path to forgiveness- not just from my dad, but for myself.”

Having signed to Glassnote Records as just a teenager, Bird’s music has grown and evolved alongside her over the past decade, spanning genres in a way that is hard to pin down; an effortless writer with a gift for expression and connection, she’s woven herself a unique fabric that includes elements of indie, folk, rock, pop, soul, country, Americana, and beyond. Bird’s 2019 self-titled debut received critical acclaim. 2021’s Different Kinds of Light, recorded with Grammy-winning producer Dave Cobb, followed her move to the States as she honed in on her artistic identity and sound. 2024’s Burn The Hard Drive EP saw her continue to push and break the bounds of genre. This forthcoming release will not look to the future as Bird reckons with her emotions and gives herself the space to feel hopeful and clear-headed for

Jade Bird can be seen opening for Tom Odell on his upcoming North American tour this spring, as well as confirmed performances at Glastonbury and Latitude festivals in the U.K.
