On April 25th, 2025– Australian alt-rock band Awaken I Am released their newest single “Vacant” via SBG Records. I never personally heard of this band before, but “Vacant” pulled at my heart strings with it’s haunting melody with cathartic vocals that radiates grief and sorrow. “Vacant” also holds vulnerability within the lyrics as well as strength to understand that you need to focus on yourself and not allow yourself to become an empty vessel for other people to use. With the band losing their guitarist Connor Verner-Oakley in 2018; the band channeled those emotions of sadness and loss into creating music that many fans can relate to. Creating music in memory of their bandmate allows this band to dive deeper inside of themselves to create emotive singles that gives them an outlet to express how they feel through lyrics and instruments

Awaken I Am stands as a testament to turning pain into power, always moving forward—through loss, through change, and through sound
