High Water Festival comes back to River Front in North Charleston SC

It’s that time of year again! High Water Festival came back to Charleston SC on April 26th to the 27th with so many talented artists with Lord Huron and Arcade Fire headlining both dates! High Water Festival has easily became one of my favorite festivals to attend to every year because I am a metal head, but this festival allows me to become more diverse with different music genres. We may love all the musicians who perform, but what are festivals truly about? Festivals is about the atmosphere and how music brings everyone together. Throughout the two days; I saw so many attendees having the time of their lives with their loved ones and that’s what festivals are all about. Everyone coming together to enjoy music and create new memories. Other festivals need to be like High Water Festival because this festival shows the love and dedication to making sure attendees are hydrated, fed, and safe.

One of my favorite things about this festival is the fact that they have two hydration stations on the festival grounds and it’s FREE! Attendees can come and go throughout the day to stay hydrated which we all know most festivals charge attendees for water. Thank you to High Water Festival for making sure that everyone stays hydrated. This is the first festival I’ve been to where there’s not hundreds of people in one lane waiting to get water in the hot weather. The lines for the hydration station’s consistently kept it’s flow and everyone seemed very happy. I stayed hydrated during the festival the whole time and watching attendees being able to do the same is the reason why High Water Festival is the top one.

Last year, I came to Cabot’s Creamery several times because throughout the day they give free grilled cheese’s to all attendees and the staff working with this vendor were phenomenal and so kind. This year I noticed they were back again and I instantly had to go and grab me one of the best grilled cheese’s I’ve ever had. Honestly, I don’t even know what exactly is in the grilled cheese because I forget to ask, but it melts in your mouth and the bread is the perfect about crispy that keeps you running back for more. If you love grilled cheese; I recommend coming to High Water Festival to try it out!

As I was walking to Stono stage on the first day; I noticed this woman wearing this unique shirt and I stopped her and asked if I could take a photo of it! If you read what it says; It truly holds a deep meaning especially being a woman myself. We tend to try to not do certain things because it’s not “lady like”, but then regret those things because we allowed generational things to stop us. Women as a whole changed drastically throughout the years and we need to keep empowering each other because the more we prove people wrong; the more people will respect us and realize that women can be independent like everyone else.

Let’s honestly talk about the food here because we all know festival food is really expensive, but the vendors they have will make you not have any money left because everything is delicious. There’s an Asian vendor that carries the most mouth watering dishes and of course I had to try the orange chicken with white rice. That meal kept me full all day long and every time I passed that vendor, I always needed to stop myself from buying more food. There is also a pop corn vendor as well and these workers there are consistently smiling and making sure all attendees are taken cared of! Another vendor that I sadly waited 4 hours for on the first day cause I craving it was Ben & Jerry’s. Literally I kept going back to the ice cream truck and every time I did; there was at least 50 people on line. Towards the end of the first day; I finally got ice cream and I got the Cherry Garcia which honestly busted my taste buds into overload. The first bite was so heavenly and I told myself I would go the next day to try a different flavor! And I did. I am a mint chocolate chip girl and that’s what I got!

I added some photos below! And let’s talk about them! I focused very heavily on the atmosphere of the festival and spent majorly of my time walking around the festival grounds capturing special moments. The first photo was captured the very first day at the fest and everyone who knows me knows I love cornhole, so I had to capture this moment! I saw a girl blowing bubbles and it’s so innocent and playful! As you continue looking at the photos there are so many moments I captured of siblings playing, couples enjoying the music, or just strangers I decided to stop to take their photo! And as I was walking on the first day; I actually noticed a Hulk Hogan look alike and It blew my mind! He was excited to get his photo taken and his wife went “He is the true Hulk Hogan” which made me smile because you saw the admiration in her eyes towards her husband.

I also want to talk about this amazing vendor Get Baked who sold sold stuffed pretzels and they took care of the media team the whole weekend. I had the pleasure of speaking to the owner Maggie and she was one of the nicest individuals I’ve met. She told me a little bit about the story how Get Baked started and some background about herself. Her employees during the weekend worked endlessly to make sure attendees were happy and fed. Also it was perfect timing cause on April 26th, it was National Pretzel Day, so it was even more exciting! I got to try their Nutella, Philly Cheesesteak, and Crab stuffed pretzels and I would have never guessed my true love would be a stuffed pretzel. Get Baked is ran by a powerhouse of a woman that deserves the recognition for her dedication for her brand. We can’t wait to interview her pretty soon! Check out their website HERE!
