Lauren Spencer Smith released a brand new single, “IF KARMA DOESN’T GET YOU (I WILL),” on all streaming platforms, along with the official lyric video:
This new track is the second single to be released on her upcoming album, THE ART OF BEING A MESS, releasing on June 27, 2025, with Island Records/Republic Records. The album is now available for pre-order/pre-save.
Supporting her new music release, Spencer Smith will be headlining the Calgary Stampede coming up, on July 3 at the Coca-cola Stage, with additional dates to be announced shortly.
During an interview, Spencer Smith talks about, ‘“IF KARMA DOESN’T GET YOU (I WILL)’ taps into a sound that’s edgier, darker, and more honest than anything I’ve released before.” Spencer Smith elaborates onto “It’s a reflection of the anger, power, and fire I’ve felt—and a sign of how much I’ve grown, both personally and musically. This song is just the beginning of exploring deeper, more unapologetically angry emotions and being honest about the sides of ourselves we don’t always show.”
THE ART OF BEING A MESS, in its name, signifies the real emotional rollercoaster Spencer Smith has experienced firsthand while in the process of writing her second album. Each song on the record taps into a feeling; anger, devastation, peace, love, confusion and everything in between all of those, even being sometimes all at once. As she reflects on the crazy chaotic parts of being human, each and every song on the record finds Spencer Smith having to revisit all of her real stories and experiences, throughout her life. Within this album, she wants to remind listeners to embrace and feel completely comfortable if they’re ever finding themselves in their own emotions—that it’s okay to do so. Everything in life is not always going to be easy, but you’re not in this alone.
Spencer Smith adds “THE ART OF BEING A MESS is about embracing the highs and lows, the chaos and the beauty in feeling everything, no matter what the emotion is.” Elaborating more, “Life gets messy, and it’s okay to be angry, sad, confused—or even unsure of what you’re feeling at all. I want this album to feel like a guidebook, helping you understand your own emotions and feeling okay to embrace the journey they take you on.”
THE ART OF BEING A MESS is following after her debut album, Mirror, which features her singles “Flowers” and “Fingers Crossed,” RIAA Certified Platinum singles, which peaked at No. 19 on the Billboard Hot 100 and has also reached over 875 million global streams.
